IMMIGRATION REFORM AND CONTROL ACTS (I-9’S) Reference: Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 POLICY: MDT Home Health Care Agency, Inc. is committed to employing only United States citizens and aliens who are authorized to work in the United States and does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of citizenship or national origin. The company will comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. PROCEDURE: · All new Employees shall complete an Employment Eligibility Verification form I-9 on or before the first day of employment. · No Employee should begin work without completing an I-9 form and presenting the proper identification documents. · Applicants shall be advised of this requirement during the interview or when the job offer is made, so they will be prepared to provide the proper documents. · The original I-9 is to be maintained in the employee’s personnel record. · The function of the on site Supervisor or HR designee is to examine the documents of identity provided by the Employee and certify by their signature at the bottom of the I-9 form that the documents appear to be genuine and that to the best of the Supervisor’s knowledge the Employee is authorized to work in the United States. · PRN Employees who complete the new hire paperwork by mail must have the I-9 notarized or have a MDT Home Health Care Agency, Inc. Supervisor or designee complete the I-9 process as outlined in Section E. · The Immigration Control and Reform Act of 1986 requires I-9 forms be maintained for three (3) years after the date of hire or one (1) year after employment is terminated, whichever is later. · Aliens who are authorized to work in the United States are required to update the I-9 annually at the time of the performance review or expiration of the authorized documents.
