MDT Home Health Care Agency, Inc. MASK TECHNIQUE Purpose: To offer some protection from inhalation contamination. Equipment: Clean mask. Procedure: 1. Wash hands. 2. Unfold mask and place over nose and mouth. 3. Secure with ties at neck and across head. To remove mask:1. Wash hands. 2. Untie and old mask by strings only. 3. Put mask into hamper. 4. Wash hands in alcohol and iodine solution. Note: Masks are not reusable; if disposable masks are in use, they are to be placed in paper bag for disposal.
