PROCEDURE FOR DRESSING CHANGE Equipment needed: - Bag for soiled dressing - Protection for bed - Solution for cleaning - Topical medications/ointment, as per prescription - Bandage and tape Procedure: - Inform patient of procedure to be performed. - Explain procedure to patient. - Screen patient if necessary, to provide privacy. - Apply protection for bed. - Remove and dispose of soiled dressing. - Clean wound and dispose of soiled materials. - Apply new dressing (medicated, if indicated). - Apply bandage and tape. - Clean up.
