GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR GLUCOMETER QUALITY CONTROL TESTING Quality Control testing is to be performed per manufacturer * s guidelines and/or; • Before the monitor is used for the first time. • If the monitor has not been used for a period of 14 days or longer. • each time a new vial of Test Strips is opened. • If the monitor has been dropped. • Whenever a patient * s result contradicts the patient * s condition. • Whenever you want to check the performance of the monitor and test strip. • Any other reason per manufacturer * s guidelines. Quality Control testing should be performed with two levels of quality control solutions and a check strip, • The Agency nursing staff will use the control solution provided by the manufacturer for that system (check expiration date). • The normal ranges wilt be provided by the manufacturer of the system on or within each new vial container. • The check strip will be provided by the manufacturer of the system. • The quality control testing (solutions and check strip) must be within acceptable ranges before proceeding with patient testing (check expiration date). • If the quality control testing is not within acceptable ranges (lie problem (s) must be corrected before proceeding with patient testing.
