GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR DOCUMENTATION OF QUALITY CONTROL RESULTS • Quality Control records are retained for five years. • All quality control results and any corrective action used to restore an unacceptable result, are recorded on the quality control log. • The agency will maintain a Quality Control log for each meter system issued. • If patient * s own meter is used, the log will remain in the home. The DON, Clinical Manager or qualified designee will keep an updated copy in the office until the original is returned to the agency to be filed in the medical record. • The Education Department will review the quality control log and note any trends that would indicate potential problems. • Results summary will be prepared quarterly for the Infection Control Committee annual meeting. • Log will be maintained as long as the nurse is performing and/or teaching the use of Blood Glucose Meter.
