MDT Home Health Care Agency, Inc. APPLICATION OF FOLEY DRAINAGE BAG Purpose: To allow continual flow of urine into restricted area. Equipment: Foley drainage bag Procedure: 1. Bring equipment to bedside. 2. Screen patient and explain procedure. 3. Drape patient exposing area of Foley catheter, 4. Remove drainage bag from container and hang on bedside 5. Remove cap from tim of drainage tube and apply to open end of catheter. 6. Pin tubing in place on sheet. (Do not use rubber band). 7. Cover patient, unscreen and discard unnecessary equipment.
