MDT Home Health Care Agency, Inc. REFERRAL/INTAKE SERVICES ASSISTANT Job Summary: The Referral/Intake Services Assistant is responsible for completion of insurance verification for referrals, assisting with the processing of referrals and Receptionist coverage. Lines of authority and reporting responsibilities: Report to the Director of Nursing, Clinical Manager, Administrator. Values: 1. View their work as part of the larger Agency system, and strive to improve their performance in concert with, rather than in competition with, their co-workers and other Agency employees. 4. Be conscious of the resources they use in completing their work and to strive to use these resources as efficiently and effectively as possible. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Verify payer coverage for all referrals. Ensure financial responsibility on the referral worksheet is completed or that a letter of financial responsibility is mailed to the patient. Enter verification information into Agency software system. 2. Assist with the processing of referrals, including entering the information on the correct log, making the appropriate number of copies for each referral and distributing the referral to ensure prompt assignment of every case. 3. Fulfill the reception job responsibilities, as assigned. 4. Ensure HIPAA guidelines and procedures are maintained. Working and Physical Demands: Office based telephone activity; sedentary 90% of the time; standing 10% of the time; stooping/reaching; ability to move up to 25 pounds. This Job Classification will not have a Potential risk for Occupational Exposure to Blood and other Potential Infections body fluids. Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software: 1. Computer skills in windows based applications 2. Multi-line telephone systems 3. Photocopy, fax machines and voice mail Qualifications: 1. Graduate of a high school or with some years of high school education (no Diploma required) 2. Ability to type and enter data at 45 wpm with a high degree of accuracy 3. Competent with computers, specifically window based applications 4. Knowledge of medical terminology and home care reimbursement required 5. Ability to organize and prioritize work 6.
