JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE OF POSITION: Registered Nurse Hi-Tech Division TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Nursing, Clinical Manager POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Hi-Tech Registered Nurse must be licensed and registered in the State of Florida. Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a professional nurse in an acute care setting. It is preferable, but not mandatory that the Hi-Tech Nurse has completed an approved Baccalaureate Degree Program. POSITION SUMMARY: The Hi-Tech Nurse is a registered professional nurse who provides skilled nursing services on an intermittent basis to patients in their homes. These services are performed in accordance with the physician's orders and under the direction and supervision of the Administrator and the appropriate Agency. Working knowledge of I.V. Therapy, T.P.N., Chemotherapy, Infusion Pumps, Controllers. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Conducts the admission of the patient to the Agency by: a) Assessing the client on the initial visit; b) Assessment of environment including safety, adequate refrigeration, storage and cleanliness; c) Initiating the plan of care and necessary revisions; d) Administering venipuncture and insertion of intravenous needles and catheters; e) Preparing infusion solutions with the additions of medications; f) Initiate, monitor, and terminate infusion solutions and additives; g) Establish flow rates (if not done by the physician); h) Initiating appropriate preventive nursing procedures; i) Preparing clinical and progress reports; k) Providing service in accordance with reimbursements, ethical, and legal guidelines; 1) Coordination of services; m) Referral to other services as needed; n) Informing the physician and other personnel of changes in the client's needs; o) Evaluating client total care needs on an on-going basis; p) Training of client and caregiver; q) Assessing the ability of client or caregiver to manage when staff is not present. 2. Provides skilled nursing care as outlined in the patient care plan to include the following: (a) Nursing services, treatments and preventive procedures requiring substantial, specialized skill and ordered by the patient's physician. (b) Initiating preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures as appropriate for the patient's care and safety. (c) Observing signs and symptoms and reporting to the physician reactions to treatments, including drugs, and changes in the patient's physical or emotional condition.
